CATCH Director, Richard Yamada, attended the KACO (Kodiak Association of Charter Operators) annual membership meeting in Kodiak. It is interesting to note, that this was where the concept of a "pool plan" first originated in 2007 (in fact, it was called the KACO Plan back then). Richard brought the members up to date on the progress of the CATCH project. KACO will be sending in their letter of interest to attend the CATCH stakeholders meeting in Sitka.

CATCH had a productive meeting with members of the Halibut Coalition. The purpose of the meeting was to update representatives of the commercial industry on CATCH's progress, and give them an opportunity to ask questions, voice concerns, and express preferences. They also helped our team think through a number of operational and logistical issues.

CATCH Director, Richard Yamada, presented to attendees at the International Sportsmen's Exposition (ISE) in Sacramento, discussing how guided sport halibut regulations are made, and providing an overview of the CATCH project to date. Download the presentation here.

At the North Pacific Fishery Management Council Meeting in Anchorage, CATCH Director, Richard Yamada, was invited to present an update on the CATCH project. Yamada requested that the Council seek NOAA legal guidance on whether the charter sector could create a single entity to hold the sector’s allocation in trust for the benefit of all guided anglers, and the Council agreed.
